My deepest condolences to the family. Claire was always a bright energy, full of love, creativity, humor, and conviction . She was a modern woman before the concept existed. I have fond memories of Claire and Bob and their traveling trays of delicious food in the trunk for every family occasion. Rarely was a gathering not enhanced by Claire's lively conversation and strong opinions. I have no doubt these indelible characteristics live on in her grandchildren. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My Aunt Claire was the youngest of five daughters born to Tony and Millie Ippolito some eighty-five years ago. From very humble beginnings where she grew up on 20th Street-- a neighborhood comprised mainly of Italian immigrants from Compania, a region in Southern Italy. Known then as "South Brooklyn," it is now the very trendy "South Slope". The Five Ippolito Sisters would grow into the Five Beauties of 20th Street! My mom, Mary, was the oldest....my Aunt Claire, the youngest, with some fourteen years between them. I know she loved her big sister very much. Every Sunday, religiously, she called her....always in the mornings around 10:00 A.M. If I happened to answer the phone, she would ask for "Darlotta"--her pet name for my mother, and laugh. My mother would leave the gravy simmering on the stove to come to the phone for her weekly call....which she so looked forward to!! I will always remember my Aunt Claire for her gift of hospitality...how she always opened her home (especially at Christmastime) and her heart to her family and friends. Love you, Aunt Claire. Pax. Your Niece, Maryann
