Constance Scuderi

Constance Scuderi, 101, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.  To friends and family she was known as “Connie” or “Nanny”.  She was born in Brooklyn and lived in Staten Island NY and Lincroft NJ before moving to Colts Neck in 1982.  An accomplished seamstress, she worked for E.J. Frocks in New Dorp, Staten Island before striking out on her own and opening her dressmaking enterprise, Connie-Mel, which operated in Staten Island for many years.  After retiring from work, she relocated to New Jersey where she spent her time walking around the neighborhood, cooking, baking and engaging in all sorts of needle crafts.  She particularly enjoyed making afghans for her children and grandchildren and baking traditional Italian cookies, especially biscotti and her famous “S” cookies for her friends and family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Scuderi, her 6 siblings and her son in law, Arthur Oberle.  Surviving are her children; Thomas Scuderi and his wife Betty, Salvatore Scuderi and his wife Nancy, Lee Oberle, Janice and her husband Louis Comanducci, and Joseph Scuderi and his wife Pam, her 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s RC Church in Colts Neck on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 9 AM.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Connie’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.  Please visit Constance’s memorial website available at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com.
