Walter F. Rhoads

Walter F. Rhoads, 75, passed peacefully away at Jersey Shore Medical Center, on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Walt was born in Newark, son of the late Walter C. and Charlotte Dietrich Rhoads. A life-long New Jersey resident, Maplewood, North Plainfield and East Brunswick were each “home” to Walt before settling in Holmdel, where he has lived ever since. Walt’s life truly was one well-lived. He cherished time spent with family, especially his five grandkids, and friends; loved to travel, loved music and playing the piano, was an avid reader and found much joy in hours spent on yardwork followed by the relaxation that awaited him in his pool. He thoroughly loved spending summers at his backyard oasis relaxing with family and friends and watching his grandkids frolic in his pool. Walt had a long and fulfilling career as a CPA, and was in the midst of enjoying his first decade of retirement.
Predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife of 44 years, Monica, Walt’s legacy of warmth, kindness and generosity will live on in his three children, Cindy Berry ( George ), Debbie Ferrara ( Frank ) and Dan Rhoads ( Iwona ), and five grandchildren, Sophie, Jonathan, Lily, Cameron and Harrison.
Visitation will take place at the John E. Day Funeral Home 85 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Tuesday July 21, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Interment will immediately follow at the Restland Memorial Park in E. Hanover, N.J.
