Veronica V. Dinen

Veronica Victoria Dinen, 95, of Fair Haven, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ with her sons by her side. Born in Simpson, PA to the late John and Stanislava Tomsykoski, she was a strong and caring wife, mother of five children, and a 46-year survivor of breast cancer.

Veronica received her RN from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Carbondale, PA and graduated from Jersey City State College with a degree in Health Education. She was a school nurse for over 25 years at Forrestdale School in Rumson, NJ. Verne loved to cook, travel, go square dancing, play golf and tennis with her favorite partner, Buddy. She was an avid reader and could be found in her vegetable garden during the summer after spending her favorite pastime at the beach.

Veronica was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, James L. Dinen, her daughters Kathleen and Margaret, her daughters-in-law Carol and Karen and her siblings Mary, Joseph, Adam and Theresa. She is survived by her loving children James M. Dinen of Springfield, VA, Timothy P. Dinen of Fair Haven, NJ and Patricia Dinen Lloyd (Chris) of Queensland, Australia. Also surviving, are her adoring grandchildren Justin Dinen of Broadlands, VA, Chelsea Dinen of San Diego, CA, William F. Peyton, Jr. (Mary Kay) of Port Tobacco, MD, Erin and Kathryn Lloyd of Queensland, Australia and her great-grandchildren Jeremy Peyton and Aubrey Dinen.

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd, Fair Haven, NJ on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Veronica’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, 331 Newman Springs Rd #143, Red Bank, NJ.07701.
