Sophia Tekien

Sophia Irene Tekien, 104 of Lincroft, N.J. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late William and Stella Tekien.
She received her Bachelor of Arts (Major in Sociology) from St. Joseph’s College, Philadelphia, PA. She practiced her Nunhood ministry at Mother Boniface House of Studies. She served as a caseworker for many social services assignments including counseling families, placement in home for the aged, adoption & foster home for children and institutional caseworker for girls. Though she accomplished much she always felt like there was something missing; and that was a ‘relationship with Jesus’. Sophia took a leave of absence in January 1984. It was then that she discovered that by having faith in true biblical teaching we have eternal life! Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom 10:17). That is when her eyes opened and she realized that the Word is Jesus and Jesus, the Living Word, is the Father’s Message! She also stated in her testimony “So it is in hearing, reading, meditating and munching on the Word of God that we are fed. It is only through God’s Word that we get to know who He is and who we are in His sight.” She further stated, “When we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we receive new life, His life, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit as eternally belonging to Christ. This is the Good News of God’s plan of Salvation.” She concluded her testimony with these final words: “His Word is Truth and the Truth will make you free!”
Sophia was an active member of Lincroft Baptist Church for many years. She loved her church family as well as attending Bible studies.

Sophia’s burial service will take place at Fair View Cemetery, 456 State Highway 35, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on August 22, 2022 at 11:00AM. We ask that all attendees meet at the front gate of Fair View Cemetery at 10:45 AM.
