Salina (Cherry) Jones was born May 27th 1931, to Bama Cherry and Bo Hardy in Selma, Alabama. She departed life on December 28th, 2020, at the age of 89. She was currently living at Village Point Rehabilitation and Health Center in Monroe, NJ.
She received her education in the Dallas County School System. Earlier in life, she was married to the late Julian B. Jones of Macon, Georgia.
She confessed her love for Christ at an early age, and joined St. Paul AME church of Selma, Alabama. In her earlier years, you could find her at her favorite Bingo hall or on a bus trip to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed going to Beacon of Life Activity Center. She will be remembered most by her kind heart, and her giving and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bama Cherry, brothers Merkle Cherry, Walker Hardy, her sisters, Ella Mae, Jessie Mae Cherry, Ola Mae Cherry, and her oldest son Robert Hardy.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons, Earl Jones (Freehold, NJ) and Mathis Jones (Milledgeville, GA), two daughters, Betty Jones (Manchester, NJ) and Lynda Blacknall (Manalapan, NJ), four granddaughters, Yolonda Farmer (Long Branch, NJ), Natosha Hardy (Red Bank, NJ), Nyrie Hardy (Red Bank, NJ), Brittany Jones (Long Branch, NJ), three grandsons, Saeed Blacknall (Manalapan, NJ), Symir Blacknall (Manalapan, NJ), Isaiah Jones (Freehold, NJ), 10 great grandchildren, 3 great - great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be fondly remembered by close friends Wilhelmina Watts, Thelma Jones, Shirley Bingham, Jackie Mooney, and Jimmy Lou Walker.
