October 23, 1929 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Ralph Buenaga Jr., 87, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 at his home in Ashburn, VA.  He was born in NYC, NY and raised in Brooklyn, NY by the late Ralph Buenaga Sr. and Isabelle Savasta. Ralph, a U.S. Army Veteran, proudly served our country in the Korean War.  He worked as a Vice President for Citibank in NYC for 27 years.  He was an avid runner and healthy lifestyle advocate who loved to travel with his family, from whom he received his greatest joy in life.  Ralph was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an ardent supporter of veteran’s initiatives.   He was also an astute financier who loved to play the stock market and was a passionate collector of original colonial period furniture and works of art.  Ralph was a diehard NY Jets fan and was a generous and compassionate man that will be missed by many.

Ralph is predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan (Vernol) Buenaga in 2006 and his grandson, Tyler Buenaga. He is survived by a sister Marie Oborne, Tinton Falls NJ and his 6 loving children, Edward, Ponte Vedra Beach FL, Robert (Toni), New Hope PA, Thomas (Clare), Centreville VA, Christopher (Tracie), Neptune NJ, Stephen (Deb), Wilmington DE and Ellen Gil (Jim), Danbury CT and  his 15 cherished grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 4-7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James RC Church, Red Bank, NJ on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.
