Peter G. Caras

Peter Caras, much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle mentor and friend died peacefully on February 28th, 2022 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Peter was born April 11, 1941 in Johnstown PA but has been a proud resident of Middletown since 1978. He taught illustration at DuCret School of Art in Plainfield NJ for 45 years and also at Pace University but was best known as an extremely talented and renowned illustrator of countless books, movie posters and advertisements.
He received many awards and accolades for his art and most notably Peter received praise from his childhood idol Norman Rockwell with whom he studied in earlier years.
Peter had a charisma and brightness that drew people to him and he lit up every room he walked into. His great love for art, nature and animals will be remembered by all who knew him.
He will be greatly missed.
