Nora Talty

Nora Talty, 80, of Brielle, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2018. She was born in Moyasta, County Claire, Ireland to the late Michael and Ellen (O’Brien) Talty. Nora came to America as a Nun and lived with her fellow sisters in Kentucky. Nora became a teacher and worked for over 40 years, her final pupils came from St. James School System in Red Bank. She taught the second and fourth grades and was an inspiration for many of her pupils.

Nora is predeceased by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving is her dear sister, Ann Cahill and her longtime friend Monsignor Frederick Valentino, whom she always referred to as “father”. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. She will be tremendously missed and fondly remembered by many of her loving friends.

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Monday June 11, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. James RC Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Nora’s memory to St. James Scholarship Fund, C/O St. James School, 30 Peters Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
