Michael Cartier Crawford

August 23, 1947 ~ December 28, 2021 (age 74)

Tribute

Michael Cartier Crawford, of Red Bank NJ, passed peacefully away on December 28th 2021. Mike was born in Canton, Ohio and was the son of the late William and Joel Ann (nee Puglise) Crawford. He graduated from Kent State University in 1970 with a BBA degree and also attended law school at the University of Akron.

Following his graduation, Mike started his professional career with Burroughs Corporation, a major American manufacturer of business equipment. He developed a forward-thinking vision of how computer technology would be utilized in the future and how it would impact all of our lives. He also recognized the criticality of integrating hardware and software efficiently and developed a passion for crafting data management solutions.

Mike became the founder and CEO of Data Dynamics, Inc., where he was able to bring his ideas to fruition and develop a customer base of over 750 companies, leading to its acquisition in 1998. He continued his focus on innovation through the founding of additional firms, one of which was purchased by a NASDAQ traded company in 1999.

Most recently, Mike was a Chair of TIGER 21, a discussion group of entrepreneurs and industry leaders, and was a strong advocate and influencer for the group’s mission and support of its many members. His efforts resulted in the formation of seven groups in New York City and Naples, FL with over 90 members. Mike balanced a large workload between his travels, recruiting efforts, and time devoted to leading their Portfolio Defense conversations.

In the course of his many business endeavors, Mike also obtained his Series 7 / 63 / 66 FINRA licenses, life & health insurance licenses, and multiple financial designations – Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP(R)), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU (R)), and Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC (R)). He also received his Certified Personal Trainer certification as an extension of his interests in health and personal fitness.

Mike enjoyed spending quality time with his two granddaughters - his “beautiful munchkins” - listening to their stories about their neighborhood cat, enjoying and displaying the artwork they created for him, and sneaking them Tic-Tacs he always had in his pocket. He enjoyed traveling and spent significant time in Sedona AZ, Naples FL, and New York City – and when commuting locally, or simply going out for a quick drive, he loved his fast cars.

Mike instilled in his children a strong work ethic and a sense of personal organization - he was never without his infamous yellow note pads where he’d keep his “to do” lists and jot down ideas and personal memos. He was always thoughtful and respectful towards others, but when you were in his presence, you knew who “the boss” was!

Michael is survived by his two children, David (Jennifer) Crawford and Nicole (Philippe) Godin; their mother, Joyce Minogue; two grandchildren, Sophia and Chloe, and his sister, Michele Crawford.

All arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the John E. Day Funeral Home of Red Bank, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael's name to St. Jude Children
