Marylyn Eisner-Beckwith

July 15, 1917 ~ September 14, 2017 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Marylyn Eisner-Beckwith 100, of Palm Beach Fla, & Locust, NJ, passed away early this morning, Sept 14th, quietly in her home in Locust, New Jersey. 

      .         Widow of Robert S. Eisner, and Leo M. Beckwith, Marylyn is survived by her two daughters, Katherine G. Eisner & Jan V. Eisner, her step-daughter Carol Beckwith, and younger brother Gilbert Monk.

         In 1950, she married Robert Eisner, and moved to Red Bank, NJ, raising their two daughters and sharing their mutual interests & causes until the time of his death in 1982. A few years later she met and married Leo Beckwith, until his passing in 2004. Her life was filled with purpose and grace, and the love of family, both immediate and extended.

         Born and educated in NY, she was discovered by William Saroyan in summer stock theatre, and made her Broadway debut in his Pulitzer prize play "The Time of Your Life. Other plays included "The Dough Girls", "Without Love", "Foolish Notion", and with Melvyn Douglas in "Two Blind Mice".Television credits included parts in Studio One, Philco Playhouse, and the daytime soap opera "The Secret Storm". She wrote and directed two documentaries, "A Bridge to Understanding", for Children's Psychiatric Center, and "At Your Service" for Monmouth Medical Center. She became chairman of the Monmouth Park Charity Ball auction for 32 years, Chairman of the Children's Psychiatric Center's annual benefit for 25 years, as well as being on the Board of Trustees of Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital for 16 years.  She was an avid tennis player and horse woman.  Marylyn was a member of Hollywood Golf Club, Deal NJ, & Banyon Country Club, Palm Beach, Fla.

        Visitation will be held at John Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, NJ on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 3 to 7 PM.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11AM with a burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
