Mary Patricia Dietz, with her family at her side, passed peacefully away at Riverview Medical Center, on Sunday, July 12th. She was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Mary Pat was extremely proud of her all Irish heritage and enjoyed Irish dancing as a young girl. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Hoboken, NJ. While working in New York City, she met and married her husband, Michael. After their marriage, they moved to Middletown. There, Mary Pat, with her gentle, kind and caring presence, fashioned a house into a home; a place where her children mirrored her values of compassion and loving kindness; of always looking for the good in people and circumstance; where everyone was welcomed without limit or condition.
She was a woman of great faith. And courage! Health problems punctuated her days, and yet she persevered; never complaining, always delighted at opportunities to be in the presence of family and friends; always seeing the good. Being a part of the St. Anthony of Padua (Red Bank) community brought her much joy – and she, to those in that community, found joy in her friendship. And it is in that community, and in the community of Middletown, her home, that she will be deeply missed.
Mary Pat was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen (nee Murphy) Kelaher, and her beloved husband, Michael Dietz. Among those in whom her legacy lives on are: her son, Michael Dietz; her daughters, Jacqueline Eyester (Scott), and Kerriann Dietz; and her brother, Jack Kelaher. There are no words to describe the depth of Mary Pat’s love for, and delight in, her five grand-daughters: Emily, Alex, Ellie, Gracie, and Audrey.
Visitation will take place at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ on Thursday, July 16th, from 3 PM to 6 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Red Bank on Friday, July 17th at 11 AM with interment to follow at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
