Mary Phyllis Burger

Mary Phyllis Burger, 95, of Middletown passed away peacefully on June 24, 2018. She was born in Erie, PA to the late Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Connell) Sommerhof.

Phyllis was a graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA where she worked as a teacher. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband, William Northend Burger; her son, Dr. John A. Burger, and her brother, William (Slim) Sommerhof.

She is survived by her children: Jann Phillips and her partner, Tim Spillane of NY; Robert Burger and his wife, Deborah of NJ; and William Jeffrey Burger and his wife, Ida of NY. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren: Tara, Jake, Rachel, Jodi, Duncan, Mitchell, Mary Elvis, William, John and Charles as well as thirteen great-grandchildren: Aaron, Zachary, Brooke, Faith, John, Allison, Emma, Abby, Toby, Draco, Jason, Elaina, and Fiona.

Visitation will take place at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 1-3 p.m with a service at 2:30 PM.  All other arrangements will be private.
