Tribute
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lynn McNamara, a beloved grandmother and mother, on Tuesday February 9th, 2021.
She was born Marilyn Desdemona Cox on August 18th, 1928 in Orange New Jersey to Harry J. and Marion M. Cox. She was a graduate of Montclair High School; and studied art at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey. She was married to the love of her life, Charles McNamara, on April 2nd, 1949. She worked in the insurance industry for many years, retiring from AON insurance company in 1991. In her retirement, Lynn enjoyed painting beautiful landscapes, floral arrangements, and her grandchildren. In addition, she was an avid reader and gardener. Lynn was friendly to all and wanted everyone to feel cared for, as she was incredibly generous with her affection and time. She always thought of how to improve others’ lives and was ready to be of service to them. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry and wonderful husband, Charles. She is survived by her two children, Wendy and James; two grandchildren, Jackie and Matthew; and many adoring friends.
Visitation will be at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, NJ at 10 A.M. along with a prayer service at 11 AM on Wednesday February 17th, 2021 with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Lynn’s memory to the NJ Pandemic Relief F
