Lorraine C. Kozimbo, 83, of Tinton Falls NJ passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2021. She was born in Elizabeth NJ to the late Henry P. Plungis and Catherine E. Nogaj.
After attending Fairleigh Dickinson University for a few years, Lorraine put her education on hold to raise her family. She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her career before fully retiring. In her retirement years, she received her Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State University while taking good care of her elderly parents. Lorraine was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of books with a special love for Science Fiction. She was known to stay up all night long to finish reading an interesting book. Her cats kept her good company and meant the world to her. Lorraine was an outspoken, independent woman who was also talented as a handywoman around the house and tackled many projects ranging from demolition, to tiling, and refinishing furniture. In her younger years she enjoyed painting ceramics with her children. Lorraine was a loving mother and adored spending time with her children and granddaughter.
Lorraine is survived by her adored son, John C. Kozimbo, her beloved daughters, Laura Kozimbo (fiancé David Bobowitcz), Susan Sierra (husband Antonio Sierra), and Arlene Kozimbo (husband Don Burgett). She is also survived by her brothers, Henry Plungis, Jr. and Robert Plungis, as well as her dearest granddaughter, Samantha Sierra.
Funeral arrangements will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank NJ 07701 on Friday April 9th, 2021 from 4-8 PM. A mass will be held for Lorraine at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank NJ on Saturday April 10th, 2021 at 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Lorraine’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
