Leonard Guarini

Tribute

Leonard T. Guarini, 77, died on December 5, 2018 in Fort Myers, FL. Leonard was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Pasquale and Pauline (Marchese) Guarini.  He lived in Middletown, NJ for 45 years but also resided in Estero, FL for the past decade.

Leonard graduated with a BA from Brooklyn College and served in the Marine Reserves for 7 years. He retired after 29 years as an Actuary for Prudential Insurance Company in Holmdel.

He was very active in the community and it was his passion to give back.  He volunteered with the Indian Guides and Boys Scouts.  He coached for many years within the River Plaza Boys Club, eventually volunteering on the Board of Directors until he ultimately became the Commissioner. He joined the Brookdale Community College Foundation and eventually served a term as the Board of Directors President.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed the warm sun of Florida and eventually got involved within the Village Creek Community, serving as the President of the Golf Association and Captain of the Bocce Bandits (1st place in 2018). While not officially listed on the team roster of the 1994 NY Rangers, he claimed ownership and took great pride when they won the Stanley Cup. He loved to golf with his friends, was an avid reader was a fixture on the sidelines supporting his sons and grandchildren.

Len was a kind and gentle soul with a great personality and wonderful sense of humor.  Anyone one who met him, liked him immediately and he treated you instantly like family.  He will be missed greatly by family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his beloved wife Marguerite (Siclari) Guarini of 54 years to whom he dedicated himself to; his loving sons Michael Guarini and his wife Corri of Lincroft; Andrew Guarini and his wife Edith of Red Bank; his sister Rosanne Callahan of North Carolina and his adoring grandchildren Alexa, Jake, Addison and Rylan.

A visitation will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4-8 p.m.  A funeral mass will take place on Friday, December 14, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Church at 9:15 a.m. with entombment to follow at Holmdel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
