Joseph Nolan Gemmell, 62, of Lincroft, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Joseph was born in Carlisle, PA to Joseph P. and Diane (Kormanik) Gemmell.
A 1977 graduate of Monsignor Farrell High School, SI, NY. Joseph went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering from Manhattan College.
Joe could best be described as a loving, compassionate man who brought happiness into the lives of all that he had the pleasure of encountering. Joe was an avid fisherman and built a lifetime of memories with family and friends. He enjoyed kite flying and taking long drives with his wife in his 65 Shelby cobra. He was a loving father and grandfather. Fittingly, his granddaughters have affectionately called him “Happy”.
He was a current and longtime employee of CME Associates in Parlin working in the capacity of Client Manager and Professional Engineer.
Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Dennis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Bridget A. (Brett) Gemmell, his children; Meghan Gemmell, Christopher Gemmell, and Colleen Carle and husband Daniel, his granddaughters, Nora and Delaney Carle, parents, Joseph and Diane Gemmell, and his siblings, Donald Gemmell and Barbara DePalo and husband Rob.
Family and friends may visit on Thurs., Oct. 7th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., Oct. 8th, 10am, St. James RC Church, Red Bank. Burial will be private.
