Joseph Louis Cugini

Joseph Louis Cugini, 86, passed away at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank on April 2, 2018. He was born in Staten Island, NY to the late Anthony and Donata Cugini.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Joseph loved being a Principal for the NYC Board of Education for over 40 years considering his students, teachers and staff to be part of his family. He was a truly devoted family man who loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and music concerts and the family brunch at gatherings.

He is predeceased by his brothers: Christy J. and Robert J, Cugini.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Janet (nee: Olsen); his loving children and their spouses: Jane and Donald Cernera, Donald M.D. and Kim and Ellen and Patrick Kelly. Also surviing are his cherished ten grandchildren: Thomas, Robert, Edward and Gregory Cernera; Brian, Kelsey, Kyle and Holly Cugini and Kirsten and Karinne Kelly as well as his sister: Dorothy Nolan.
Visitation will take place at the John E. Day Funeral Home 85 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701 from 4-8 PM on Thursday April 5, 2018 with a funeral home service at 8PM. Interment will take place on Friday April 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Brigadier W.C. Doyle Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ to follow.
