Tribute

Jorge Gustavo Perez of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on January 13th, 2023.

Jorge was born June 20th, 1963 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He went to Liceo 8 de
Montevideo and graduated from el Instituto Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in 1973. During his time in school, he met his loving wife Norma at the age of 16, with whom he has been married for nearly 37 years. After they were married, he moved to Middletown, NJ in 1988.

He was the father of Nicholas shortly after in 1990 and in 1994, was the father of Sabrina. Throughout his life he worked as a chef in numerous locations, working in several establishments and even in higher-end luxury facilities. He loved his trade and he would never shy away from making food for any occasion for anyone. He was a frequent advocate for health, especially for children. He helped sponsor children who had no clothes or food and was able to provide the means to shelter, clothe and feed them. He also was a frequent donor to charities to research children’s health. Jorge was known for his kindness, sense of humor, cooking, and love for his family and
friends. He would be adamant about having as many people over as possible, always to be surrounded by loved ones and enjoy their company. If there was one thing he truly loved after his family, was his passion for fútbol. He was immensely passionate and loved watching games with friends and family, drinking mate, and grilling on the barbeque. He also had immense love for his four-legged friends frequently feeding them things they probably shouldn’t have been eating.

He was a devoted and loving father, putting his son and daughter first above all else. Jorge was tremendously proud of his son and daughter, each of whom went down their respective career choices, fully supporting them unconditionally. He also was a loving and caring husband, putting Norma before himself at all times. He loved her with every inch of his being, which others can only attempt to mimic.
Though he may not be with us in person, he still remains with us in spirit. Jorge’s family
finds serenity in knowing that his love, passion, and grace are with them at all times. His
energy will be with all of those who he has touched, giving his continuous support and love to push them onward.
