John Helm Pratt Jr.

John Helm Pratt, Jr., of Red Bank, passed away on February 22, 2019. He was born in Washington DC to the late John Helm and Bernice (Safford) Pratt. John was a proud graduate of Harvard University. He was a proud American who served our country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. John was an avid sports fan and amazing athlete as he especially enjoyed March Madness pools and routing for the Redskins, “Fight on for Old D.C”.  John could often be found sharing a cold one with his friends at Brothers or Brannigans as everyone’s “Best Friend”.  John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a generous, intelligent, humble man by all who were privileged to have known him. He’ll always be remembered for his catch phrase “It gets you right here.” as he pointed to his heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mimi Pratt, his loving children Erin Allen and her husband Tim, John Helm Pratt III and his wife Danielle, and his cherished grandchildren John Anthony and Liam Joseph, his dear siblings Sister Clare, Cinda Pearlman and her husband Daniel, Patricia Moriarty and her husband George, and Mary Brandenburg and her husband John. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Wednesday February 27, 2019 from 4 – 8 p.m. In respect with John’s wishes, cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in John’s memory to American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
