John Patrick King

King, John Patrick “Pat”, 83 of Shrewsbury and formerly of Sea Bright, N.J., Long Island, N.Y., and Greenville, S.C. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 31, 2020. He was born to the late John “Jack” and Mary Louise “Molly” King in Syracuse, N.Y. Pat proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an MP, and upon return, met and married the love of his life, Evelyn. Pat went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, which helped prepare him to eventually become Vice President of Finance for Michelin Tire Corporation.

After retirement, Pat enjoyed traveling around the world, photography, and walks along the beach and the river in Sea Bright with Evelyn. He was an avid follower of the stock market and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, who he loved and supported in so many ways. He always enjoyed a glass (or two) of wine with a fine dinner, a roaring fire in the fireplace, a day at the race track, or a game of pitch with family and friends.

Pat was predeceased by his brother, Terrance. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn ( nee Crane ); two daughters and their husbands, Kathleen Accorsi ( Frank ) and Dorraine Coughlin ( Daniel ) and five grandchildren; Dillon and his wife Julia, Sean, Delaney, Connor and Donovan.

There will be a visitation on Thursday February 6, 2020 from 3-7 PM at the John E. Day Funeral Home 85 Riverside Ave. Red Bank, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday February 7, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Jerome R.C. Church in West Long Branch. Interment to immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Middletown.
