John Joseph Falco, 86, of Manahawkin, formerly a longtime Scotch Plains resident, passed away on July 12, 2021 in Red Bank, NJ. John was born in March 9th, 1935 in Bayonne, NJ to Joseph and Antoinette (DeLuca) Falco. He graduated St Peter’s Prep High School, earned a BS degree in Physical Chemistry from St. Peter’s College in 1956 and ultimately a Master’s degree from Seton Hall University. As a well-respected chemist he worked for notable companies including Norton and Sons, Staley Chemical, Dow Chemical and most recently as a chemical sales executive with Unocal.

John married Barbara Harrigan in Bayonne NJ November 23rd, 1957. After 36 years of marriage and four children, she preceded him in death on September 6th, 1993. John was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church in Scotch Plains, NJ where he also served as an usher and CCD teacher. He was active in community service and served on the Scotch Plains Planning Board, Recreation Committee and as a Boy Scout Leader.

John enjoyed summers down at the family Shore House with his extended family and friends, and for the past 20+ years enjoyed his winters in Cape Coral Florida with his longtime partner Joan Deventer. John was full of charisma, was the life of a party and known for his famous homemade lasagna.

He was loved by all that knew him and was a beloved father, loving “Pop Pop” and loyal friend to so many (including his cherished pet turtles). John was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Andrew and Dr. Frank Falco, and in 1993 by his beloved wife, Barbara Harrigan Falco. He is survived by his longtime companion, Joan Deventer of Basking Ridge and Cape Coral Fla., his four children (and in-laws) John J. Falco (Donna) of Lincroft NJ, Lynn Falco-Goodman (Thomas) of Scotch Plains NJ, Carolyn Hill (Kevin) of Rumson NJ and Suzanne Fish (Douglas) of Morrison, CO. who were with him in his final days. He was also an extremely proud grandfather of his nine grandchildren; Kristen, Daniel, John, Patrick, Michael, Katherine, Carolyn, Lindsey and Rachel and two great-grandchildren; Teddy and Liam.

Family and friends may visit Fri. July 16th from 4-7pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat. July 17th 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery 1100 E. Broad St., Westfield.
