Tribute

Janet M. Loschenko, 73, of Red Bank, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC after a long illness. Janet was born in Rutherford, NJ to the late Francis and Hortense (Core) Rohrbach.  

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford and then earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mother Cabrini College in Radnor, PA and her Master’s from Georgian Court University. 

Janet was loved by all who knew her; she would light up every room she entered, whether that was a classroom, one of her many book club afternoons, a family birthday celebration or a gathering with college friends. She loved bringing people together; introducing “new” friends to “old”; connecting people in ways that always added value. She was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother and friend; she will be missed by all who those who were blessed enough to meet her. Janet strongly believed in giving back and living a life of service; she volunteered with local charities and organizations; Holiday Express and the Monmouth County Food Bank were some of her favorites. She will forever be the most beloved “Amie”; the grandmother that we all wished we had. “Love you too much”, “Love you so much” and “Love you very much”.

Janet was an educator in the Holmdel School District for 27 years prior to her retirement in 2013. She was a substitute teacher for many years at the Holy Cross Academy and The Rumson Country Day School. She was a member of the NJEA and NEA, a cross country and NJSIA track official and a communicant and lector at The Church of the Nativity RC Church in Fair Haven. 

In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brothers; Kenneth and Donald Rohrbach.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Michael Loschenko, her son, Brian Loschenko of Red Bank, daughter Michelle (Daniel) Buckley and her beloved grandchildren; Madeleine, Rory and Finn Buckley of Fair Haven, brothers; Robert (Ruth) Rohrbach and David (Judy) Rohrbach all of CA, brother-in-law, Walter Loschenko of Buena, NJ, sisters-in-law; Valentina (Daniel) Ruga of Vineland, NJ and Jenny (Nicholas) Kutovy of Hamilton Square, NJ.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Wed. Feb. 15th from 4-8pm at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thurs. Feb. 16th, 10am, at The Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd., Fair Haven. Interment will be private.
