James J. Geocos, 58, of Lincroft, passed away on January 1, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after a two year heroic fight against brain cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Andrew and Dorothy (Klang) Geocos. James graduated from Kingsborough Community College and received his Bachelor’s degree from Pace University. He had a successful career in the finance industry working for major companies including Prudential, Drexel Burnham, Lehman Brothers, Industrial Bank of Japan, ING, and Guardian Life Insurance Company.

 

He moved to Dumont, NJ with his loving wife Marie in 1991 to raise their son Christopher, daughter Elizabeth, and their family dog, Cody. Once they were empty nesters, they settled in Lincroft in 2018, welcoming their new furry family member, Teddy. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling and hobbies such as oil painting and birdwatching in his free time. He also enjoyed craft beer and fine bourbons.

 

He is predeceased by his father, Andrew Geocos, and his brother, Clifford Geocos. Surviving is his beloved wife of 34 years, Marie Ann (Manteria) Geocos, his loving children, Christopher and his wife Selda, and Elizabeth and her husband Jonathan Sporn, his adored mother, Dorothy Geocos, his dear brothers, Richard and his wife Myriam Geocos and Kenneth Geocos and his sister in law, Marian Geocos. James is also survived by his brother and sister in laws, Salvatore Manteria and his wife Celeste, Patricia Outeiral and her husband Henry, Frank Manteria and his wife Rebecca, and Christine Porter and her husband Todd. Also surviving are many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Tuesday January 5, 2021 from 2 - 6 p.m. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in James’ memory to Glioblastoma Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
