Ida V. Pellegrini 91, of Cedar Village and formerly of Staten Island passed away peacefully on March 27th 2018 surrounded by her family in her home at Brighton Gardens in Middletown. She was born in New York City to the late Gino and Ravenna (Ciardelli) Violanti.
Ida was a graduate of Curtis High School in Staten Island. She attended New York Institute of Dietetics in New York City and proceeded to Hunter College where she received her Associates Degree and then her internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital where she worked as a Licensed Dietician. Later in life she was known as Miss Ida, a nursery school teacher working at the Marshall School for 7 years.
Ida loved to cook especially making the Sunday Sauce and preparing holiday meals. She was also an avid reader, always doing her daily word search puzzles with her cats Cosby & Fluffy beside her. She also liked her sports and never missed the NY Giants play a game.
Ida is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years Victor Guido Pellegrini. Her loving children Lola Pellegrini Pillarella and her husband John of Lincroft, NJ. and Victor Peter Pellegrini of Bridgewater, NJ. Also surviving are her adoring grandchildren Michael Crismali, Victor E. Pellegrini, Matthew Pellegrini and Ravenna Pillarella Garofola. Ida is also survived by 4 Great Grandchildren Riley Crismali, Noah Crismali, Zelina Pellegrini and Sophia Pellegrini. Ida was pre-deceased by her parents Gino & Ravenna Violanti, her sister Gina Violanti, and her grandson John Pillarella IV.
Ida resided at Brighton Gardens in Middletown since November 2017. Although it was a short stay our family wants to thank the staff at Brighton Gardens and Embracing Hospice care for all their loving care.
Visitation will take place on Friday March 30, 2018 from 4 to 9 PM at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ. A burial will take place at 11 AM on Saturday March 31, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 155 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island. A memorial gathering will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Middletown on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 1 PM.
