Grace Anne Young

Grace Anne Young, 94, of Shrewsbury passed away at home on July 6. She was born and raised in Jersey City to the late George and Grace (Smith) Nickel. Throughout her life, Grace had many interests including ice skating, horseback riding and knitting. At a young age, Grace married Richard Young on his return from service in WWII. The two began their life in Jersey City, welcoming three daughters, later to relocate to Monmouth County to raise their family. Grace worked for Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank for many years and as a visiting nurse with MCOSS. She later retired to enjoy time with her husband. Together they spent many days at Monmouth Park, trips to Florida and time with family and friends. Later in life, Grace moved to the Thornbrooke Community in Shrewsbury where she met and enjoyed time with friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Richard in 2001 and her daughter Sharon in 2005. She is survived by her loving daughters Carol Augusty and her husband Richard of Shrewsbury and Joan Mayer of Spring Lake Heights. Also, surviving are her adoring grandchildren Holly, Shane and Lindsay; and her great grandchildren Bryce and Ryan.

Visitation will be held a John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ on Monday, July 9th from 4 – 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be at St. James R.C. Church in Red Bank on Tuesday, July 10th at 10 AM with a burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
