Gloria J. Gerweck, 91 of Little Silver, passed peacefully away at The Chelsea at Shrewsbury, on Sunday, April 26th. She was born in Newark, NJ, the daughter of Gaetano Valenza and Lucia Blasco. A devoted wife and mother, Gloria’s home was a welcoming environment where family and friends could gather for memorable meals, enjoy the warmth of good conversations and friendships shared, relax and step away from the day-to-day stresses beyond her front door. She enjoyed cooking – and excelled at it. She was skilled in the creative arts of sewing and knitting. She found much joy in time spent with family and friends.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents; by her daughter, Cynthia Gulka (2005), and by her husband, Clifford Gerweck, Sr. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will live on in her surviving daughters, Nancy (Jim) Caragher; Lynn (Jim) Sikorski; Kathy (Chris) Garzino; and in her son Clifford Gerweck, Jr. Gloria’s eight grandchildren will cherish the memories, and miss the moments spent with such a special grandmother, as will all who knew her.
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, all services are private under the direction of the John E. Day Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute 450 Brookline Ave. Boston, MA. 02215
