Tribute

Giovanni “John” Pascale passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022. He was 83 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Aurora Pascale (nee Pollara) for 54 years; loving father of John Paul and Andrea Pascale of Wayne, Elena and Dave Pasqualino of Emerson, Arlene and Anthony Altamura of Shrewsbury, and Paul and Tricia Pascale of Toms River; proud grandfather of Valerie and Annie Pascale, Emma and Gillian Pasqualino, Ava and Adriana Altamura, and Gianna and Olivia Pascale. John is survived by brothers-in-law Frank and Lewis Pollara, sisters-in-law, Barbara Comella and Patricia Miles, aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and even more lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Maria and Paulo Pascale, his in-laws Helen and Joe Bernadino and Frank Z. Pollara, and additionally his brother-in-law Charles Pollara.

John was a hard-working, humble man who loved to laugh and always had a warm smile on his face. His happiest times were spent with his wife, Aurora, his children, his grandchildren, and his friends. He was a generous man who volunteered his time to many organizations. He never liked to see people struggle. He always welcomed family, friends, and neighbors into his home.

Born in Monte San Biagio, Italy, John began his life in America when he was 15 years old. Despite being a long-term resident of the United States, John never lost his accent or his love of good food. John served in the army before he met the love of his life, Aurora. John and his wife spent the better part of 25 years in Elmwood Park, where he owned “Elena Transit, Inc” and raised four children. He very quickly fell in love with the Jersey Shore and after retirement spent many hours enjoying the lagoon from his deck while caring for local animals. He loved hosting his family, and his grandchildren were the apples of his eyes. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to catch and clean crabs, he made countless trips to the boardwalk for carousel rides and the arcades. He opened his home to anyone who had the pleasure of befriending him. John lived a good, happy life and will always be remembered for his generosity, infectious smile, silly jokes, and his love for family and friends.
