George Krahnert, 94, of Cranford, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2018. He was born in Tinton Falls, NJ to the late George and Gertrude Krahnert. George married Stella in 1945 and they settled in Old Bridge where they raised their only son George. He proudly served our country in the U.S Army during World War Two where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He opened Krahnert Brothers auto repair shop in Roselle Park in 1947 and serviced the community for over 50 years. During his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. George will be remembered as a gentle and caring man who always loved his family.
Surviving is his loving son, George and his wife Margie Krahnert, his cherished grandson George Krahnert, his brother John Krahnert and wife Dianne, his sister Dorothy Strahlendorf and husband Frederick, and sister in law Jane Krahnert. Also surviving are his brother in law John Pagano and wife Catherine. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Stella, his brother Ernie and wife Ella, his brother Richard, his sister Georgianna and husband Jack, and sister Alice and husband Raymond. He is also predesceased by his sister in law Theresa and husband Tom Lopresti, Mary Pagano, Catherine Pagano, and Anna and husband Jimmy Romano, brother in law Phillip and wife Patricia.
A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue on Monday, August 20th, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. with a service beginning at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Cranford First Aid Squad, with memo notation: In memory of George Krahnert.
