Felix J. Della Vecchia, Jr., 91, a lifelong resident of Red Bank, passed away on November 3, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center. Born to Elvira Rendina and Felix Della Vecchia, Sr. The second child in the family, Junior as he was affectionately known by his family and friends. In school he was a member of the Rod and Gun Club. A graduate of Red Bank Regional High School and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Monmouth College. During the Korean Conflict his education was interrupted to be drafted into the Army. He served as Surgical Technician for number 47 Surgical Hospital mash unit. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Metal Merit Unit Commendation. He returned from Korea and met and married the lovely Phyllis Claire Durget. Felix began his career and retired from Fort Monmouth as a Weapons Control Operations Analyst. He was a member of the NRA and a volunteer for OEM in Monmouth County. Upon retiring, he enjoyed traveling the world.

He is predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Claire Durget and his brother, Anthony Della Vecchia. Surviving are his loving children, Maureen and her husband Douglas Campbell, Patricia and her husband Russell Wenzel, Joseph Della Vecchia and his wife Nancy, his cherished grandchildren, Sean Campbell, Marlys and Jacob Wenzel and his dear sister, Rita King of U.S Virgin Islands, St. Thomas. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Anthony Della Vecchia, Diane, Nicholas and Liz Paolicelli, Michelle, Bill and Jessica Smith, Jeff King, Ronald, Rebecca, Ryan and Sean King, Ann Marie and Jani Ubelis and Barbara and Paul Anobile.

All services are private and under the direction of the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Felix’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Felix will be remembered in death as in life as a fun loving person who did not give up. “Our greatest glory is not in falling, but in rising every time we fall.” -Rocky Balboa.
