Elsa Bendezu Vargas

Elsa Bendezú Vargas, 77, passed away at her daughter’s home in Middletown, NJ on Friday September 30th, 2022.

She is survived here in the US by her daughter Katia Bravo Bendezú, son-in-law Richard Scherl, grandson Leonardo Bravo Bendezú, niece Isabel Dejo Bendezú, and beloved dog Dianna. Additionally, she has many relatives from her extended family in Peru.

Elsita was born in Ayacucho, Peru on April 12, 1945. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. Her parents were Rosalbina Vargas Segura and Albino Bendezú Munaylla.

At the age of 47, she studied law and then worked for many years as an attorney in Peru, both in Ayacucho and Lima.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 7th from 5:00 – 8:00 at the John E. Day Funeral Home at 85 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701.

The funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday October 8th at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 121 Bridge Ave, Red Bank, NJ. The family will host a reception afterwards.
