It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald G. McMillan 61 of Navesink. Donald passed peacefully at Riverview Hospital on September 6. Donald was born at Patterson Army Hospital to Col Richard J. Mc Millan and Gertrude McMillan (Van Kirk). He was brought up in Navesink and lived in Sea Bright prior to returning to Navesink some 30 years ago.
Donald graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Monmouth University. He was employed by the Federal Government at NOAA, Sandy Hook, NJ as a Marine Biologist. His career there spanned over a 35 year period, retiring in 2013.
Donald was a Renaissance Man. His life filled with his many passions; his daughter was always No. 1 on his list. Donald was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, baker and cook. Donald had an outgoing personality, was most humorous, very compassionate and caring. He mentored students on the vastness and beauty of the ocean while instilling in them the importance of respecting and protecting the environment. Donald was community minded and for years volunteered at the Navesink Fire Department for a multitude of functions and projects.
Donald is predeceased by his mother and father Gertrude and Richard McMillan of Navesink, his brothers Michael McMillan of Eatontown and Richard J. McMillan of Sea Bright and brother-in-law John Cain of John's Creek, GA. He is survived by his devoted and loving daughter Caden McMillan of Navesink, sister Suzie Teehan and brother-in law Dennis Teehan of Loganville GA, sister Maryann Cain of John's Creek GA and devoted sister-in-law Chris Doxey McMillan of Sea Bright. He is also survived by his nephews Richard McMillan and Paul McMillan of Fl, Shawn and Denny Teehan of Loganville GA , niece Jennie Hess and her husband Trey of Monroe GA, niece Jennifer Reed and husband Thomas Reed of Belair MD., Niece Maggie Luzzi and husband Steven Luzzi of Spring Lake and



niece Betsy Callaghan and husband Barry Callaghan of Spring Lake and many loving grand-nieces and nephews.
Services for Donald are private. He has requested a Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family at a later date. Memorial donations to Donald's favorite charity, St Jude's Children's Hospital may be made to www.stjude.org/donate.
