Charles S. Trovato

April 9, 1951 ~ December 4, 2019 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Charles S. Trovato was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 9, 1951.  Charlie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1974 from Pratt Institute and began a career as a graphic designer and art director.  Charles continued working in his chosen field until December 3, even as he fought for his life against the aggressive cancer in his body.  He repeatedly expressed his happiness with his work, his choices and his life.  He had no regrets.

Charlie had many passions which he pursued vigorously.  He had a tremendous creative energy which he expressed through his work and in every part of his life.  His talents were visible in his sculpture and photographs, and especially in the kitchen where he expressed his passion for food and its preparation.  He was always excited about what recipe he would try next. Charles was a great lover of the outdoors who enjoyed fishing and hunting trips across the country, especially with lifelong friends and his beloved nephews.  He often said that sitting in a tree all day was the perfect meditative antidote to the stress of life. Travel was another of his passions, with Sicily and Greece being top of the list of his favored destinations.  He sometimes combined his love of travel with another of his passions, tennis, attending major competitions around the globe.

Charles is predeceased by his father Charles Trovato and survived by his mother Florence, his sisters Christine and Angela, his nephews Michael (Corrinna) and Matthew Hertler and Davis and Charlie Gallinghouse, his great nephew and niece Dylan and Fern; and a enormous group of devoted lifelong friends.  He was in many ways larger than life and will be sorely missed by all.

There will be a Memorial Mass 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 10th at the Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Ave. Mahwah, NJ 07430.  All are welcome.

A celebration of his life will follow in early 2020.  Details to follow.
