Charles Francis Coyle, 84, of Old Bridge, passed away Sunday, February 18 in Long Branch. Charles was born in Lyndhurst, New Jersey to Charles F. Coyle, Sr. and Alice Ida Carmody. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army from 1950 – 1953 and then was a truck driver for the American Can Company in Jersey City. Charles loved to swim, dance, solve puzzles and play cards. He enjoyed the warm weather and was well known for his cooking, particularly his signature ‘gravy’.
Charles , also known as Uncle Brother is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Dorothea Giordiano; four daughters: Teresa Minnick, Donna Dipaolo and Michael, Charlene Coyle and Sharon Bloodgood and her husband Timothy; nine grandchildren: Leah, Elizabeth, John, Cassandra, Katie, Candice, Jonathon, Rachel and Kevin; six great grandchildren and a sister Eileen Guzzy.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 20 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 21 at 10 a.m. at St. James RC Church, Broad Street, Red Bank followed by private disposition.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Charles’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 331 Newman Springs Rd., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
