Tribute

Catherine E. Agresta
Born April 25, 1937
Died March 10, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Catherine Elizabeth Agresta of Oceanport, NJ at age 85. Surrounded by all her children, Catherine passed peacefully on March 10th.

Born and raised in Glen Ridge, NJ, Catherine graduated from Glen Ridge High School in 1955. Catherine married young and had 5 children with her then husband, Anthony I. Agresta. Although divorced in 1974, the two remained close friends until her passing.

Catherine was a devoted daughter to her parents, Larry and Lena Alvino, who lived nearby in Bloomfield. Catherine was beloved by her children who were also raised in Glen Ridge. Their house growing up was filled with friends who knew their mom as kind, sweet, and generous, especially with after school snacks.

Catherine was an authentic, honest, and hard-working person, a homemaker and later a Preschool Teaching Assistant. She loved drawing, music, dancing, astrology and being a Taurus. She enjoyed going out with friends and traveling to Florida. Her most special trip was the one-month she spent in Adelaide, Australia with her parents, visiting close Italian relatives. Above all, her grandchildren lit up her life and the feeling was mutual.

Catherine is survived by her five children Anthony (Mary) Agresta, Darlene Agresta, Stephanie Agresta, Catherine (Lou) Laso, and Elizabeth (Andy) Penziner, and her five grandchildren Ashley, Andy, Dillon, Chloe and Charlie. She also leaves behind her beloved brother Frank (Sandy) Alvino and nephews Jeff and Mark Alvino and their families. She is predeceased by her sister-in-law Bernadette, and her son-in-law Alex Meskovic who held a special place in her heart. Catherine will be lovingly remembered by many cousins across the state of New Jersey.

Catherine will be sorely missed by those who were blessed to be a part of her life.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on March 23rd from 2 - 6 pm at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, NJ with a service commencing at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, PanCAN, in her honor, would be appreciated.
