Tribute

Anna Elizabeth Frey, 92, of Lincroft, passed away at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ on September 10, 2022. Anna was born in Jersey City to Thomas and Anna (Lovering) Connelly and moved to Bayonne after marrying the love of her life, William H. Frey, to raise their family.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Leo the Great RC Church in Lincroft and St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Bayonne. Anna was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Snyder High School in Jersey City. Anna worked for many years at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne. She was a longtime coach of the Bayonne PAL Basketball League and a dedicated member of the Holy Family Academy Mother’s Club.

Anna was loved by all and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, spirit and kindness. She valued her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved the ocean breeze while sitting on the Spring Lake boardwalk, was a faithful fan at her grandchildren’s many sporting events, and especially enjoyed baking cupcakes for their birthday parties. She had a boundless faith in God and enjoyed attending daily mass at St. Leo the Great Chapel. She was a loving and selfless mother, grandmother, and friend who never missed an important milestone. Anna will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Thomas Connelly, and in 2007, by her loving husband of 54 years, William H. Frey, and by her cherished canines, Abbey, Casey, and Murphy.

Anna is survived by her children, Patricia A. Flanagan of Lunenburg, MA whose husband, Kevin L. Flanagan passed away in 2017, William J. Frey and wife Linda of Flemington, NJ, Debra Rochford and husband John of Ocean, NJ, and Donna Alkin and husband Lewis of Freehold; her grandchildren, Kelly Flanagan and husband David Hawkins, Colleen Flanagan and husband Kyle Savidge, Emma Frey, Katie, Heather and Clare Rochford, and Bridget and Ryan Alkin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Leo the Great RC Church, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft, NJ on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 10:15 a.m. with interment following at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall, NJ.
