Ted Sidun

Senior Funeral Director

Ted Sidun, grandson of John E. Day, joined John E. Day Funeral Home as a Licensed Funeral Director in 1990. Ted graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA and attended the University of Pittburgh's Semester at Sea program and the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City.

Ted is very active in the community and is involved in many organizations: He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former member and on the Board of Directors of the Keyport Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, and a member and supporter of St. George's by the River Episcopal Church in Rumson.

Ted and his wife Jennifer have two daughters, Liza and Reese. He enjoys biking, swimming, tennis, skiing, scuba diving, sailing and kitesurfing.

Ginny Sanzo

Ginny Sanzo

Ginny joined the John E. Day Funeral Home team as Managing Partner in August of 2021 after a 20+ year career in funeral service.

Receiving her calling to funeral service at the age of sixteen, Ginny graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN in 1997. She has worked diligently since then to compassionately care for the families she is deeply honored to serve. Ginny believes in leading with love and strives to learn about each life lived and to connect with those who remain to help celebrate their loved one’s legacy. She also holds fast to the principles of dignity, respect and honor.

Having also graduated from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA with her degree in Funeral Home Management, Ginny has served as President of the New Jersey State Funeral Director’s Association (NJSFDA). Ginny is also a Certified Celebrant, having served as Celebrant for the NJSFDA Annual Service of Remembrance in 2018 and 2021.

In 2022, Ginny was honored to serve as one of three mentors for the National Funeral Director's Association's (NFDA) Annual Meet the Mentors program. In honor of Women's History Month, she was invited to join the conversation on "Women Behind the Wake," the March, 2023 episode of NFDA's podcast "A Brush with Death."

Ginny lives in Matawan with her husband, Ray, and their rescue dog, Oliver and their Chocolate Lab pup, Roscoe. An appointed member of the Matawan Environmental Commission, Ginny is also active with the Matawan Historical Society. A yarn enthusiast, Ginny enjoys the creative arts of knitting and crocheting.

Sheri L. Sidun

Sheri L. Sidun

Licensed Funeral Director - Specialized in Preplanning

After earning her BA in Psychology Creighton University in Omaha, NE, Sheri decided to pursue her dream of becoming a Funeral Director and attended San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, graduating first in her class,  

Her funeral service career began in California at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Piedmont, CA. In 1991, Sheri returned to her home state of NJ and joined John E. Day, Bedle and Braun Funeral Homes in Red Bank, Keyport, Matawan and Eatontown, NJ. 

A large portion of Sheri’s career has been focused on advance funeral planning. In July, 2020, Sheri was named Managing Partner of Bedle and Braun Funeral Homes.

She is a communicant of Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, NJ, a member of the Monmouth and Ocean County Funeral Director’s Association, an active member of the Oceanport, NJ, Lions Club and a member of the Eatontown, NJ, Elks Club. 

Formerly a resident of Monmouth Beach, NJ, Sheri now enjoys living in Oceanport, NJ with her daughters, Abigail and Stephanie.

I enjoy building relationships with my families and always treat them the way I would want to be treated.”

Deanna Megill

Deanna Megill

Licensed Funeral Director - Emeritus

Deanna Megill had been with John E. Day Funeral Home since June 2006 and relocated to Northern New Jersey in the Fall of 2022. She graduated from Long Branch High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Brookdale Community College. She graduated from Mercer County Community College with an Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences and a certificate in Mortuary Science and transitioned from being an intern to a Licensed Funeral Director/Administrator. 

Deanna was born and raised in the Long Branch community. She enjoys spending time with her best friend and sister, Lori, and with her family, and loves her cat, Tulip. Within the funeral home, Deanna volunteers her time at the MCSPCA in Eatontown and JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank. Around Christmas she donates boxes to Operation Christmas Child, a program that gives to children in need around the world.

“I love the families I serve, I feel so grateful to be able to help them in any way that I can. It is a privilege when people who were strangers to me yesterday, entrust their loved ones into my care…it is the greatest form of mutual respect and trust. The families I serve are aware that I am available to them at all times and that their loved ones are being treated as if they were my own relative.”

Deanna is still honored to assist the family and team at John E. Day Funeral Home whenever she is able to.

Cy Sidun

Cy Sidun

In Loving Memory of

Cyril “Cy” Sidun

March 30, 1926-October 16, 2021


Cy started his career as a mechanical engineer before attending the McAllister School of Embalming in New York, where he graduated first in his class. He purchased the funeral home from his father-in-law, John E. Day, in 1958 and managed and operated it as president until 1986.

Cy is very active in his community: He is a member and president of the Red Bank Lions Club, a life member of the Red Bank Elks Lodge #233, a life member of the Red Bank Knights of Columbus Council #3187 and a member of the American Legion Post 168.

Cy has six children, five sons and one daughter. Two of his sons have chosen to follow him into funeral service and work along with him today. Cy has been married to his second wife Carol Shaheen since 1987.

Cy is an avid snow skier and bicyclist. He is a member and supporter of Rails to Trails Conservancy, the Appalachian Trail Conference, the American Museum of Natural History and Adventure Cycling.

Doug, a grandson of John E. Day, has been with the John E. Day Funeral Home since 1981. He graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado before attending the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York.

Doug was an active member of his community. He was a member and past President of the Red Bank Kiwanis Club; a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fair Haven Council; a member of the Monmouth and Ocean County Funeral Director's Association; a member of the Chamber of Commerce; and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank.  

"Each and every family I serve in our community reminds me how individual we all are in what we need as we grieve for a loved one. My commitment to each family is to learn more about them and that loved one. The end result should always be a meaningful and memorable final tribute.

Doug has  three daughters. His hobbies are water skiing and snow skiing.
