Marguerite Tanner of Fair Haven
Marguerite Tanner, 98, passed away peacefully at her sons home on December 30, 2017. She would have celebrated her 99th birthday on Jan.16, 2018. She was blessed with a long and wonderful life. She was born in Brussels, Belgium and met her husband James while he was stationed there during WWII. In her early years she could be spotted around town riding her bicycle. Her many passions were walking the beach at Trade Winds collecting Sea Glass, reading romance novels and playing Bridge of which she attained the Level of Grand Master. She retired to Boyton Beach, FL for many years before returning to Fair Haven eight years ago. She worked as a librarian for the Red Bank Library for many years.
Marguerite is predeceased by her husband, James Tanner and her son, Paul Tanner.
She was loved and will be missed by her son and daughter in law: Peter Tanner, Sr. and Lori of Fair Haven; four grandchildren and their spouses: Jacquelyn and Bryan Spencer of Tinton Falls, Jamey and Brian Reed of Alaska, Peter Tanner of West End, John Tanner and his fiancée, Jenn Lutich of CA and three great grandchildren: Brieanah, Beverly and Brice Reed, and her loving aide Elizabeth Daniel.
Visitation will take place at the John E. Day Funeral Home 85 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701 from 4-8 PM on Wednesday January 3, 2018 with a funeral home service on Friday January 5, 2018 at 10:30AM with interment at Mt. Olivet in Middletown to follow.
