Janet A Strid

Janet A. Strid passed away peacefully at Bayside Manor Nursing Home on July 20, 2017. Janet was a resident of Holmdel Township for over 40 years. She was a 1963 graduate of Seaton Hill University in Greenburgh, PA. where she majored in French. Janet also participated in a program sponsored by Lavalle University in Canada and spent a summer living with a French-speaking family in Quebec. Janet taught for 25 years at Keyport Central School and served as President of the Keyport Education Association before retiring in 2009. She was a kind and loving person who was respected by her students, her colleagues and her many friends. Janet enjoyed reading novels, along with gardening, swimming, golf and tennis. She was a member of the Beacon Hill Country Club for many years.
Janet was pre-deceased by her parents, Dr. & Mrs. Emerson Stanley Hill of Torrington, CT and by her sister, Suzanne Hill of New York City. She is survived by three children: Gregory Strid and his wife Mary Anna of Chester, NJ, Jennifer Stradt of Oxford, NJ and Dennis Strid, Jr. and his wife Noelle of Berkeley Heights, NJ along with her granddaughters Anna Rose Strid and Zoe Strid.
Funeral arrangements are private and under the care of John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of NJ, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
