Horace Homer Walker

August 31, 1928 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Horace Homer Walker, 89, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2017 at Brighton Gardens.  He was born in Victoria, TX to the late Horace Jackson and Gladys Joyce (Snead) Walker. 

Homer was a proud member of the US Marine Corps (Private 1st Class) and attended Victoria Junior College.  He earned his B.A. at the University of Houston soon after.  His illustrious career within the Transportation and Shipping industry (Sea-Land Service, ANDZL) allowed him to travel the world with his family.  Raising a family in Italy, Holland, then back to the US Mainland in 1975. 

Homer had a passion for the game of golf.  As a member of Beacon Hill Country Club in Atlantic Highlands, he established many life-long friends with fellow members and staff.  As his retirement years approached he took up residency in Rockport, TX and was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.  He helped in so many the ministry activities and brought care and humor to every venue. 

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Walker.  Surviving are his loving children, Mark Walker and his wife Randi and Jennifer Hufnagel, his dear brother, Jackie D. Walker and his 4 cherished grandchildren, Ashley Hufnagel, Benjamin Walker, Carly Hufnagel, and Emma Walker.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made in honor of Homer Walker to the "2018 Homer Walker Caddie Scholarship Fund", c/o Beacon Hill Country Club.
