Doris Veca

Doris Veronica Veca, age 93, died peacefully on October 1st, 2017. Doris was born July 6, 1924 in Jersey City, the daughter of Jenny and Lloyd Skinner. Doris attended St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City. Doris was the co-founder of Veckridge Chemical Company in South Kearny.

She met the love of her life, Ernest Veca (Babe), at 10 years old jumping off a stonewall in the neighborhood. They were married for over 62 years and had six children.

Doris enjoyed life to the fullest. She was passionate about her family and supported them through all the ups and downs of life. She enjoyed being active and excelled at tennis. She loved to laugh and enjoyed a good glass of wine. Her husband, Babe, was her best friend and partner. He preceded her in death 4 years ago.

She was the last of her 5 siblings Margaret Pezzuti, Kenneth Skinner, Lloyd Skinner, Jane Hoey. She leaves behind 6 children Dorrine Veca-Horowitz (Mark), Margaret Veca, Mark Veca (Beth), Robert Veca (Rita), Thomas Veca (Nora), Josine Veca, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A wake in her honor will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ October 4, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. Entombment at Holmdel Cemetery Thursday, October 5, 2017.
