Doris F. King

Doris F. King, 98, of Tinton Falls passed away February 19, 2018 in Neptune. Doris was born in Union City to Nicholas Kemp and Josephine Flagg. She graduated from Roselle Park High School in 1937 and married her late husband Walter F. King, Jr. in 1941. Doris and her husband Walter made their home in Cranford, Little Silver and Bricktown. Doris enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a past president of the Green Thumb Garden Club in Cranford. She loved reading and traveling and cherished the three years she and her husband were able to spend in Scotland. Doris was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury and a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank and Brick Hospital. She was also an avid seamstress.

   Doris is predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter F. King, Jr. in 1987, a daughter-in-law, Coryn Jane King and a brother Walter Kemp. She is survived by a son Walter F. King; a daughter Linda Nelson and her husband Harold; three grandchildren: David King and his wife Melissa, Laura King and Amanda King; and one great-grandchild Finn Eigenrauch.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 23 from 11 – 12 noon at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701 immediately followed by a Funeral Home Service and burial at the Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury, 352 Sycamore Ave, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s of NJ, 425 Eagle Rock Ave #203, Roseland , NJ. 07068.  Please visit Doris’ memorial website at johnedayfuneralhome.com.
