Charles A. Cerussi, 89, known as Charlie, who was passionate and conscientious about the environment and sustainability, passed away peacefully on Earth Day ~ Monday, April 22, 2024.

Born and raised in the Bronx, NY to Charles A. and Frederica Cerussi, Charlie was the elder of two children. A1959 graduate of Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, he earned his degree in business. While there, he was an active member of the national service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. After working as a contractor with the George A. Fuller Construction Co., Charlie established Cerussi & Cerussi Co., Inc. and operated in the Bronx for over 30 years.

Charlie met the love of his life, Virginia "Ginny" Ferrerio, and they married in June of 1965, settling in the Riverdale section of the Bronx where they raised their two sons. Always an avid sports fan, Charlie coached Little League in North Riverdale and was often seen riding his bike up and down the hills of Riverdale. A devoted fan of the Giants and the Yankees, Charlie enjoyed his time working at Yankee Stadium during his college years.

The Adirondacks held a special place in Charlie's heart - the cabin by the lake was a second home to him and he never missed a summer trip there, ever since his childhood. He relished fishing, boating and water skiing there, as well as a good round of golf, which he could enjoy anywhere there was a good green. Above all, Charlie's family was everything to him and he took pride being the best Pop-Pop to his precious grandchildren.

Charlie was a regular communicant of the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Red Bank and was a former parishioner of St. Margaret of Cortona in Riverdale.
For the past few years, Charlie enjoyed his time spent several days per week at We Care Adult Care where he participated in games, trivia, parties, entertainment, and of course, the food, which had become a passion of his in later life. He appreciated and was thankful for the wonderful care provided by the VNA Hospice staff, as well as by his aide Margaret.

Charlie is survived by his beloved bride of nearly 59 years, Virginia "Ginny" Cerussi, his two devoted sons and their wives, Charles (Carol) Cerussi and Andrew (Sandra) Cerussi, and his cherished grandchildren, Tori, Mia, Andy, Cameron and Charlotte. Charlie is also the caring brother of Fredrycca Cerussi-Muntz and her late husband, Jan Muntz, and brother-in-law of Theresa (Monroe) Petty and their children, Jonathan and Allyson.
