Barbara Marie (Scharg) DeMuro, 88, passed away surrounded by her family at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank on October 5, 2017. She was born in Hackensack to the late Henry and Jeanette (Fury) Scharg, grew up in Rutherford, and as a military wife, lived in many places such as Japan, Alexandria VA, Dallas TX, and for the last 37 years, Red Bank. She attended Penn Hall Academy in Chambersburg PA. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ted DeMuro. Surviving are her children and their spouses: Nadia DeMuro and Christy Green of OK, Mark DeMuro of NY, Jeffrey and Margot DeMuro of VA, and Donna and Brien Downing of NC; four grandchildren: Matthew Downing and his wife Leanna of SC, Phillip Downing of VA, Elizabeth Nickolett of CA and Erica Nickolette of KS; her great grandchild Taylor Downing, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
   A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2 – 6 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ.
