Anand Subramaniam Appulingam

With deep sadness, we mourn the sudden passing of our son Anand Appulingam, age 31, who died unexpectedly on March 25th, 2017 while doing what he loved best, traveling the world.

Anand will be remembered as compassionate and intelligent, bright and inquisitive with a sensitive and generous soul. After graduating from Holmdel High School in 2004, he attended Georgetown University and graduated with a degree in Finance in 2008. His passion for the environment led him to work on behalf of greenhouse gas abatement projects in the developing world. Sadly, his dedication and potential were hindered by the challenges of chronic physical and mental illness which he fought with the same drive that he applied to his work. In his last days, Anand was able to do what he loved to do, traveling and immersing himself in other cultures.

Anand is survived by his devoted mom and dad, Anbuchelvi Appulingam and Subramaniam Appulingam. He is also survived by his sister Subha Appulingam Sellers, brother-in-law Jay Sellers, and niece Layla Sellers. He leaves behind his adorning dog Ella and a lifetime of classmates and close friends.

Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701on Monday April 3, 2017 from 5-8 pm. A private service will be held for close family the following day.
