Kathryn E. Lindenberger, 91, of Kensington Court in Shrewsbury, formally of Middletown passed away Wednesday, August 06, 2014. Born in Brooklyn to the late William and Kathryn Hopke and resided in Glendale Queens before moving to Middletown over 40 years ago.
She attended Katherine Gibbs Business School in N.Y.C. graduating  with high honors and after raising 2 daughters, worked as a Patent Attorney legal secretary for 20 years at Bell Labs.
Kathryn was the past President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Red Bank Elks Lodge 233 and helped create the “Hug-a-Bear” Campaign designed to comfort children involved in emergency situations. Additionally she volunteered at the Blood Bank of Central Jersey for many years.  She loved crocheting, knitting, making lace, crafting, reading and playing the piano and organ.
Kathryn is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, William. .
She is survived by her loving daughters Barbara and her husband Earl Woodzell of Lincroft and Marilyn and her husband Helmuth Meditz of Middletown. One of her greatest joys was time with her adored grandchildren; Christopher Meditz and his wife Kerry, W. Scott Woodzell and his wife Caroline, W. Wayne Woodzell and his wife Rebecca and Jennifer and her husband Brian Vieth. Kathryn loved visits from her 8 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Kathryn, Achary, Andrew, William, Ryan and Rachel.
Her family would like to thank her caregiver, Kveta (Katie) for 3 years of incredible care making Mom comfortable…we can never thank you enough.  We also would like to extend many thanks to her extended family of 71/2 years at Kensington Court.
A visitation will be Friday, August 8th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the John E. Day Funeral Home 85 Riverside Ave. Red Bank, NJ 07701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 8th at 9:15 AM at St. Catherine’s R.C. Ch. in Holmdel. Emtombment will follow at Fairview Cemtery.
Donations to the Alzheimers Assoc., RedBank or the Meridian at Home Hospice program in Neptune, NJ appreciated.
