Georgette G. Oddo, 90, of Middletown, died peacefully at the Atria at Tinton Falls on Thursday, August 14, 2014. She was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Diane E. and Edward Farrell, Peter M. and Marcia Friedman Oddo, Elena A. Egan, Robert T. and Mary Oddo and Richard and Robin Oddo; adored grandmother of Christian Buckman, Megan O’Reilly, Vanessa, Jessica, Daniel, Blaire and Caroline Oddo; proud great-grandmother of Katherine, Isabella, Thomas, Margaret, Peter and William Buckman and Olive O’Reilly; and loving sister of Anne Ingal and Gloria Bodamer.
Georgette was predeceased by her parents, John and Antoinette Georgianni, five of her seven sisters and her brother, with whom she grew up on 27th Street in Astoria, Queens.
She left Julia Richman High School before graduation to take a job at Western Electric in May of 1942 and worked there until 1947, shortly before the birth of her first child.
From that point, she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a longtime communicant of St. James RC Church in Red Bank.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Peter A. Oddo, in1996, and her son-in-law, Michael Egan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, from 4-7 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 10 a.m., at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad Street, Red Bank. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ.
